Does Oklahoma tax pensions?

Partly. Government and private pensions share one exclusion of up to $10,000 per person, with no age or income limit, and a spouse's unused amount cannot be transferred. Military retirement pay is exempt in full, as are federal civil service (CSRS) benefits paid in place of Social Security, which the calculator does not model. Income above the exclusion is taxed at the regular rates.

At what age do retirement tax breaks start in Oklahoma?

At 65, for an extra $1,000 exemption for each person 65 or older, only when federal AGI is $15,000 or less ($25,000 joint, $19,000 head of household, $12,500 separate). The $10,000 retirement exclusion has no age requirement.

What the calculator leaves out

The federal CSRS annuity paid in lieu of Social Security (fully excluded) is not modeled.

The calculator uses Oklahoma rules from the 2025 forms and instructions, the latest published.

Federal tax uses the 2026 brackets, the standard deduction with the extra amount at 65, and the $6,000 senior deduction. Estimates assume no other deductions, credits or local taxes except as noted.
