ARIZONA BONUS TAX · TAX YEAR 2026

Arizona bonus tax calculator

Arizona has no separate bonus tax rate: the percentage you chose on Form A-4 applies to a bonus too, and 2% applies if you never filed one. On a $10,000 bonus with $75,000 of wages, a single filer has $200 of Arizona tax withheld, plus $2,200 of federal income tax and $765 of Social Security and Medicare, and takes home $6,835. The bonus adds $250 to the year's Arizona tax, so $50 less is withheld than owed.

Arizona bonus tax questions

What is the Arizona bonus tax rate for 2026?

Arizona has no separate bonus tax rate: the percentage you chose on Form A-4 applies to a bonus too, and 2% applies if you never filed one. On a $10,000 bonus that is $200 of Arizona tax.

Is a bonus taxed more than regular pay in Arizona?

No. When you file, a bonus is taxed at the same Arizona rates as the rest of your wages; only the withholding differs. For a single filer with $75,000 of wages, a $10,000 bonus adds $250 to the year's Arizona tax and has $200 withheld, so $50 less is withheld than owed. The rest is due when you file.

Can I change how much Arizona withholds from a bonus?

Yes, by giving your employer a new Form A-4. You choose 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%, 2.5%, 3% or 3.5% of gross taxable wages, or zero if you expect to owe no Arizona tax, and the rate applies to every paycheck, bonus included. At 3.5%, a $10,000 bonus has $350 withheld.

What the calculator leaves out

  • Arizona withholds the percentage the employee elected on Form A-4 from every paycheck, bonus included; 2.0% applies with no A-4.
  • The elected rate is not tied to the 2.5% income tax rate.

Federal income tax is withheld at the 22% supplemental rate, 37% on supplemental pay above $1,000,000 in a year. Social Security and Medicare treat the bonus as the year's last pay, so wages above $184,500 owe no more Social Security. Filing status changes only the annual comparison.
